Join a Committee

Joining a committee is a fantastic way to get involved and give back to the DSC. Committees cover almost every aspect of the DSC, providing excellent opportunities to learn more about sailing and connect with fellow members.

How to Join a Committee:

Renew or Join as a Member: Ensure your membership is current or become a new member. Join/Renew Here »
Select Your Committees: During the application process, indicate your committee interests in the "Volunteer Type" field.
Stay Informed: Check the events calendar for committee events and watch your email for updates and meeting invitations.

All our committees are beginner friendly and welcome members with limited experience.

Available Committees

Cruising Committee
ACTIVE ALL YEAR

Each cruising boat will be assigned a small group of managers responsible for conducting regular inspections to ensure safety and quality standards. These managers will oversee the inspection process and coordinate any necessary repairs in collaboration with the Director of Fleet and Facilities. Join us to help maintain the high standards of our cruising fleet!

Dockmaster Committee
APRIL - OCTOBER

Join the Dockmaster Committee and be a welcoming presence at each member sail. Attend a Dockmaster orientation in March - or watch the recording if you can’t attend - and get all the information you need to get started. Dockmasters volunteer on their own schedules and do not need to attend every member sail.

Hansa Race Team Committee
APRIL - OCTOBER

Join the Hansa Race Team and dive into an exciting sailing season! We're seeking dedicated committee members to assist with rigging and de-rigging Hansas, dropping marks, ensure safe transition of race team members onto boats. No experience is needed—just a passion for sailing and teamwork! The committee supports the Hansa Race Team's practices, held every other weekend from April through October. Members volunteer based on their individual schedules and are not required to attend every practice.

Race Council
ACTIVE ALL YEAR

Join the Race Council and help coordinate Thursday Night Racing (TNR) events, from pre-season education to weekly score entry and the end-of-season party and awards! We meet once a month, with a busy season from January to March for planning, and volunteers should be active TNR racers. In 2026, we have three open positions: Council Chair, Social Chair, and Member-at-Large.

Social Committee
ACTIVE ALL YEAR

If you enjoy brainstorming party ideas, planning events, and setting up and breaking down socials, join the DSC Social Committee! While attendance at the socials isn't required, committee members are asked to assist with planning and promotion. The committee meets quarterly to plan these events.
